This entry-level position is designed for individuals with no prior experience in phlebotomy, providing comprehensive on-the-job training to develop the essential skills required for blood collection and clinical support. You will learn the critical techniques of venipuncture, patient care, sample handling, and laboratory procedures under the guidance of experienced professionals. This role is crucial in supporting diagnostic processes and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all required training modules and practical sessions to learn venipuncture techniques.
- Perform blood collection procedures on patients of all ages, under direct supervision, adhering to strict safety and hygiene protocols.
- Provide compassionate and professional care to patients, ensuring their comfort and explaining procedures clearly.
- Prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring correct labeling and storage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all NHS Wales policies, procedures, and national healthcare regulations.
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
