Job Description

As a Port Authority Warehouse Aide with a Global Trade focus at DHL Global Forwarding, you will be an essential part of our logistics operations in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This pivotal role involves the meticulous handling of goods, ensuring smooth processing for both import and export shipments. You will play a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, preparing orders, and supporting the efficient flow of international trade through our state-of-the-art facility. Your attention to detail, commitment to safety, and understanding of global trade principles will contribute directly to our success in delivering seamless logistics solutions to our clients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming goods, verifying them against shipping documents for accuracy and potential damage.
  • Accurately sort, label, and store materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring optimal space utilization.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments according to client specifications, international shipping standards, and customs requirements.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently (training provided if needed).
  • Maintain precise inventory records through manual and system updates (e.g., WMS) to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist with regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure all goods are handled with care to prevent damage or loss during transit and storage.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, as well as local port authority regulations and international trade laws.
  • Support documentation processes for international shipments, including customs paperwork, bills of lading, and export declarations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to achieve operational goals and maintain workflow efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading documents and performing simple calculations.
  • Ability to follow instructions diligently and work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
  • Physical stamina and endurance for standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, logistics, or port operations environment.
  • Forklift certification or a demonstrated ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software.
  • Basic understanding of global trade, customs procedures, or import/export operations.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
