Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented WFH AI Safety Auditor with a professional English focus to join our Artificial Intelligence team. This is a 100% remote position based in Calgary, Alberta, offering you the flexibility to work from home while contributing to critical AI safety initiatives. As an AI Safety Auditor, you will play a crucial role in evaluating AI models, data, and processes to identify potential risks, biases, and ethical concerns. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously review and audit AI systems, ensuring their alignment with Microsoft’s ethical AI principles and regulatory standards. Excellent communication skills in professional English are paramount for documenting findings, collaborating with diverse teams, and contributing to high-quality reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough audits of AI models, datasets, and algorithms to identify safety risks, biases, and ethical issues.
  • Analyze AI system outputs and behaviors for anomalies, unintended consequences, and potential misalignments with design goals.
  • Document audit findings comprehensively, including detailed descriptions of identified risks and proposed mitigation strategies, in professional English.
  • Collaborate with AI researchers, engineers, and product managers to understand AI system functionalities and integrate safety best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of AI safety auditing methodologies and tools.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in AI ethics, safety research, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and discussions, providing clear and concise updates on audit progress and findings.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional proficiency in professional English, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and communication.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify patterns, discrepancies, and critical issues in complex data and systems.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations and safety principles in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Proficiency with common office software and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Teams).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Philosophy, Ethics, or a related technical or humanities field.
  • Experience with AI/ML concepts, data analysis, or quality assurance processes.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering or large language model (LLM) interaction.
  • Previous experience in auditing, compliance, or risk assessment roles.
