Job Description
Are you a language enthusiast, aged 16, with a passion for helping others communicate across cultures? TransPerfect is seeking bright and motivated 16-year-old teens to join our team as Online Translation Aides. This unique part-time, remote opportunity allows you to develop valuable language and communication skills while contributing to real-world translation projects. You’ll assist our professional linguists by performing preliminary research, verifying simple terms, and helping with quality assurance checks on various translation tasks. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead translators with preliminary term research and glossaries for diverse projects.
- Perform basic linguistic checks, such as identifying formatting errors or missing segments in translated texts.
- Verify the accuracy of numbers, dates, and proper names across source and target languages.
- Utilize online dictionaries, translation memory tools, and style guides under supervision.
- Provide feedback on usability and clarity of translated materials from a teen's perspective.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to project deadlines.
- Participate in online training sessions to enhance translation and linguistic skills.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English and at least one other language (read, write, speak).
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (web browsers, word processors).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively.
- Must be 16 years of age at the time of application.
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a personal computer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience studying a foreign language in school or personal interest.
- Familiarity with online collaborative tools.
- Curiosity about different cultures and global communication.
- Basic understanding of translation memory tools or CAT tools (training will be provided).
