Job Description
Are you passionate about music and love working with young children? KinderCare Education in Lawrence, KS is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Preschool Music Instructor to join our team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals with no prior experience in teaching! We will provide comprehensive training and support to help you develop into a skilled educator. In this role, you will introduce children aged 2-5 to the joys of music through engaging activities, songs, and movement. Your primary goal will be to foster a love for music and contribute to the holistic development of our students in a fun, supportive, and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate music lessons and activities for preschool-aged children.
- Introduce fundamental musical concepts such as rhythm, tempo, and melody through interactive play.
- Lead group singing, movement, and instrument exploration (e.g., shakers, drums, scarves).
- Create a joyful, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages active participation.
- Observe and assess children's engagement and progress, adapting activities as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into broader curriculum themes.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom space.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's musical development and classroom activities.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development training.

- Ability to sing in tune and demonstrate basic rhythmic competency.

- Must pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in music or early childhood education is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of different musical instruments or early childhood music programs (e.g., Orff-Schulwerk, Kodály).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
