Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Principal Environmental Scientist to join our distinguished environmental consulting team in New Port Richey, Florida. This senior-level role demands a deep understanding of environmental regulations, exceptional technical proficiency, and proven leadership in managing complex environmental projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering high-quality consulting services to a diverse client base, focusing on regulatory compliance, permitting, site assessment, remediation, and natural resource management. This is a critical role that offers significant impact and growth potential within a leading global firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex environmental consulting projects from inception to completion, ensuring client satisfaction, technical excellence, and on-budget/on-schedule delivery.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise in areas such as wetland delineation, stormwater management, ecological assessments, environmental impact assessments, permitting (e.g., ERP, NPDES, CWA Section 404/401), contamination assessment, and remediation strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and contribute to proposal development and strategic planning efforts.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level environmental staff, fostering professional growth and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure projects adhere to all relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations and company quality standards.
- Conduct complex data analysis, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions.
- Represent AECOM in client meetings, public hearings, and regulatory agency interactions.
- Implement and champion AECOM's safety culture and protocols on all projects.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with significant project management responsibilities.
- Expert knowledge of federal and Florida state environmental regulations (e.g., FDEP, SFWMD, ACOE).
- Demonstrated expertise in wetland delineation and permitting.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
- Proficiency in GIS software and environmental modeling tools.
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification or ability to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant environmental science discipline.
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
- Experience with NEPA documentation and compliance.
- Established client network and business development capabilities in the Florida market.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
