Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Image Segmentation Specialist to join our remote Robotics team. This role is crucial for developing and refining the computer vision algorithms that power our next generation of robotic systems. You will be responsible for creating robust and accurate segmentation models, working with large datasets, and integrating your work into production environments. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within Canada, with a preference for candidates based in the Nova Scotia region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, and deploy advanced image segmentation models for robotic perception using deep learning techniques.
  • Collaborate with robotics engineers and machine learning scientists to understand system requirements and integrate segmentation solutions.
  • Manage and curate large datasets for model training and validation, including annotation pipeline development.
  • Optimize segmentation models for performance, accuracy, and real-time execution on embedded robotic platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in computer vision, deep learning, and robotics.
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to documentation, and mentor junior team members.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Extensive experience with image segmentation techniques and models (e.g., U-Net, Mask R-CNN).
  • Solid understanding of computer vision principles and algorithms.
  • Experience with large-scale data handling, preprocessing, and augmentation.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics middleware (e.g., ROS).
  • Knowledge of real-time computer vision on embedded systems.
  • Prior experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Published research in computer vision or robotics.
