Job Description
Join Tyson Foods as a Senior QC Analyst and play a pivotal role in maintaining our industry-leading quality standards at our Pasco, Washington facility. This position is critical for ensuring that all products meet stringent food safety regulations and internal specifications before reaching our customers. You will be responsible for conducting advanced analytical tests, troubleshooting quality issues, and mentoring junior team members. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex chemical, physical, and microbiological analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
- Investigate and troubleshoot quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and refine QC testing procedures and protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Train and mentor junior QC technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all tests, analyses, and observations.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless quality integration throughout the supply chain.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with USDA, FDA, and other relevant food safety standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in laboratory testing methodologies (e.g., pH, moisture, protein, fat analysis, microbial plating).
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and other food safety systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
- Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role within a QC laboratory.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
