Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shopify Compliance Officer with a strong focus on Privacy and GDPR to join our legal and compliance team. This pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring that all Lululemon’s e-commerce operations, particularly those built on the Shopify platform, adhere to global data protection laws and regulations, with a specific emphasis on GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant privacy frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in e-commerce compliance, data privacy best practices, and the intricacies of the Shopify ecosystem. You will work cross-functionally to implement and maintain a robust compliance program, mitigate risks, and foster a culture of privacy-by-design within our digital operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures related to Shopify operations, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc.), and consumer protection laws.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of Shopify store configurations, third-party apps, and data processing activities to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Shopify-related compliance inquiries and provide expert guidance to legal, IT, marketing, and e-commerce teams.
- Monitor changes in global data protection laws and regulations, assessing their impact on Lululemon's Shopify ecosystem and recommending necessary adjustments.
- Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs), privacy inquiries, and potential data breaches in accordance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure privacy-by-design principles are incorporated into new Shopify features, apps, and integrations.
- Develop and deliver training programs to staff on data privacy, security, and Shopify compliance best practices.
- Oversee vendor due diligence for all Shopify-related third-party service providers to ensure their compliance with Lululemon's privacy standards.
- Prepare and submit necessary regulatory filings and reports as required.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a compliance, legal, or privacy role, with significant exposure to e-commerce platforms.
- Demonstrable expertise in global data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and Canadian privacy laws (e.g., PIPEDA).
- In-depth understanding of the Shopify platform, including its architecture, app ecosystem, and data flows.
- Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/C) or similar privacy certification.
- Experience working in a multinational retail or apparel company.
- Familiarity with other relevant regulations such as PCI DSS.
- Project management experience in implementing compliance programs.
