Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Shopify Specialist with a strong focus on Data Migration to join our growing digital team in Calgary. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring seamless transitions of data to and from our Shopify e-commerce platforms, maintaining data integrity, and optimizing our online stores for performance and user experience. This role requires a deep understanding of Shopify’s ecosystem, data structures, and best practices for migration and management. You will work closely with development, marketing, and product teams to execute complex data projects and support the evolution of our digital retail presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and oversee complex data migration projects to and from Shopify platforms.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the migration process, including product, customer, order, and inventory data.
- Develop and implement strategies for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Collaborate with developers to create custom scripts and tools for data handling when necessary.
- Perform thorough testing and validation of migrated data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Document migration procedures, data mapping, and best practices.
- Provide expert advice on Shopify data models and functionality.
- Optimize existing Shopify stores for data quality, performance, and scalability.
- Stay updated with the latest Shopify features, apps, and data migration tools.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Shopify Specialist with a focus on data migration.
- Strong understanding of Shopify's Liquid templating language and API.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and transformation using tools like Excel, Google Sheets, or scripting languages.
- Experience with various data migration tools and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with other e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, WooCommerce) is a plus.
- Familiarity with SQL or other database management systems.
- Certification in Shopify or related e-commerce platforms.
- Experience with large datasets and complex data structures.
