Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Stability Chemist to join our team in Gary, Indiana. This critical role involves conducting comprehensive stability studies on various chemical products and materials, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory guidelines and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytical chemistry and a commitment to meticulous work on long-term projects, often supporting government-funded initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to projects of national importance, ensuring the integrity, safety, and longevity of vital materials and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute stability studies according to established protocols, client specifications, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ICH, FDA).
  • Perform a wide range of chemical and physical tests on samples using various analytical techniques and instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, pH, viscosity, dissolution, Karl Fischer).
  • Accurately record, interpret, and analyze complex data, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and compliance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing stability data, identifying trends, and drawing conclusions for internal review and client submission.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to maintenance schedules and calibration procedures.
  • Develop and validate new analytical methods for stability-indicating assays as needed.
  • Adhere to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all relevant safety regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, quality assurance teams, and client representatives to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in stability testing methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in various analytical chemistry techniques (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, titration, Karl Fischer).
  • Strong understanding of stability study design, execution principles, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and chromatography data systems.
  • Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and technical report writing skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of GMP/GLP regulations and quality control principles.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, highly regulated laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, chemical, or contract research organization (CRO) laboratory setting.
  • Direct experience working with government contracts or projects subject to stringent regulatory oversight.
  • Familiarity with environmental or material science stability testing methodologies.
  • Proven experience in method development and validation for stability-indicating assays.
