Job Description
The University of Southern California is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Student Research Aide to join a dynamic research team in a university department located in Downey, CA. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to gain hands-on experience in academic research, contributing to ongoing projects and learning valuable skills in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will assist faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students with various research tasks, ensuring the smooth operation and progress of departmental studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection, entry, and basic analysis using specified software and methodologies.
- Conduct literature reviews and gather relevant information from academic databases and other sources.
- Prepare research materials, equipment, and experimental setups as instructed.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, observations, and data in lab notebooks or digital platforms.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks, including cleaning, organizing, and inventory management.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions about research progress and findings.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ethical guidelines relevant to the research area.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited institution, preferably in a STEM or relevant humanities field.
- Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently when required.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
