Job Description
Are you passionate about swimming and eager to make a difference? LA Fitness in Mississauga is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Swim Instructor Assistant to join our aquatics team for weekend shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who love working with children and adults, have strong swimming skills, and are dedicated to promoting water safety and skill development. We offer a high hourly rate and a supportive environment where you can grow your instructing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead swim instructors in teaching swimming lessons to individuals and groups of various ages and skill levels.
- Ensure the safety of all participants in and around the pool area at all times.
- Help set up and put away aquatic equipment for lessons.
- Demonstrate proper swimming techniques and provide positive, constructive feedback to learners.
- Maintain a clean and organized pool deck and teaching environment.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe learning atmosphere for all students.
- Communicate effectively with lead instructors, parents, and students.
- Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills
- Excellent swimming ability and comfort in the water.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and punctuality for all scheduled shifts.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
- Must be available to work weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Basic understanding of swimming lesson progression.
- Lifeguarding certification.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is a plus.
