Job Description
Are you a seasoned veteran of the road looking for a new mission? Swift Transportation is proud to announce our Veteran Trucker Program, offering fast-track hiring and exceptional benefits designed to recognize your service and expertise. We are seeking experienced and dedicated CDL-A truck drivers to join our nationwide fleet, operating out of our West Valley City terminal. This program is tailored for veterans with a proven track record in commercial driving, providing stability, competitive earnings, and a supportive environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods across various routes, upholding Swift’s reputation for reliability and efficiency. This is a full-time, on-site position for those ready to commit to a rewarding career on the open road.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles in accordance with all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of freight to designated locations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and all required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage and ensure safety.
- Represent Swift Transportation professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum of 24 months (2 years) verifiable Over-The-Road (OTR) truck driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and ELD operations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- HazMat (H) endorsement
- Tanker (N) endorsement
- Familiarity with various freight types and handling procedures
- Experience with refrigerated or specialized freight
