Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Leadership Mentor to work with teens in our programs. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior experience in youth mentorship but who possess a strong desire to guide, inspire, and empower adolescents. You will play a crucial role in fostering leadership skills, promoting positive behaviors, and creating a supportive environment where teens can thrive and achieve their personal and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging leadership activities and programs for teen members.
- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to guide teens through personal and social development.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating respect, integrity, and enthusiasm.
- Assist teens in identifying and achieving their academic, career, and personal goals.
- Facilitate discussions on important topics such as decision-making, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.
- Organize and supervise recreational and educational outings for teen participants.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all club members.
- Collaborate with other staff members, parents, and community partners to support teen development.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and progress for program reporting.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Genuine passion for working with and inspiring teenagers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse youth.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliability and a commitment to positive youth development.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework in education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Previous volunteer experience working with youth.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
