Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Public Transit Bus Cleaner to join our night shift team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our bus fleet, contributing directly to the comfort and safety of our passengers. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive cleaning of bus interiors, including seats, floors, windows, and driver's areas.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as grab rails, seatbacks, and fare boxes.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms on applicable vehicles.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum bus floors.
- Wash bus exteriors using automated washing equipment or by hand when necessary.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues or damage observed during cleaning.
- Restock supplies such as hand sanitizer dispensers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weight (up to 50 lbs), bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures for cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning roles.
- Experience working night shifts.
- Knowledge of various cleaning techniques and products.
