Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Well Analysis Aide to join our scientific research team in Charlotte, NC. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental science, hydrogeology, or geochemistry, with a keen interest in data collection, laboratory analysis, and supporting complex scientific investigations. The successful candidate will work closely with senior scientists and project managers, contributing to projects focused on groundwater monitoring, site assessment, remediation, and other environmental well-related analyses. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic consulting environment and contribute to projects that have a real impact on environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior scientists in the planning and execution of field sampling events, including groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling from monitoring wells.
- Operate and maintain field equipment such as water level meters, pumps, and multi-parameter probes.
- Collect and manage environmental data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis, including proper labeling, preservation, and chain-of-custody documentation.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests and analyses under supervision, ensuring quality control and safety standards.
- Perform data entry, organize information, and assist in the preliminary interpretation of analytical results.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and presentations by compiling data and drafting sections.
- Maintain detailed and accurate field notes and documentation.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or academic project experience in environmental consulting or scientific research.
- Basic knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA).
- Experience with field sampling techniques and equipment.
