Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Green Chemistry Scientist with a strong focus on sustainability to join our dynamic R&D team in Arvada, CO. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing novel chemical processes and materials that minimize environmental impact, reduce waste, and promote resource efficiency. This role demands a proactive individual passionate about pushing the boundaries of sustainable science, contributing to a cleaner future, and addressing the high demand for eco-friendly solutions across various industries. You will work on cutting-edge projects, from concept to implementation, aiming to create commercially viable and environmentally responsible products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to develop new green chemical syntheses and processes.
  • Identify and evaluate sustainable raw materials and alternative reagents.
  • Optimize existing chemical processes to enhance their environmental profile and efficiency.
  • Conduct detailed analytical characterization of new compounds and materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, materials scientists, and product developers.
  • Maintain meticulous records of experiments, analyses, and results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
  • Stay current with advancements in green chemistry, sustainability science, and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure all research and development activities comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in organic synthesis, catalysis, or materials chemistry post-Master's, or 3 years post-Ph.D.
  • Proven track record in applying green chemistry principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, and spectroscopy.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experimental design (DOE) skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with lifecycle assessment (LCA) tools and principles.
  • Knowledge of bioprocesses or bio-based chemical development.
  • Familiarity with process intensification and continuous flow chemistry.
  • Experience in scale-up and process optimization from lab to pilot plant.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small projects or technical initiatives.
