Job Description

Are you a student with a passion for pets, looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity to make a difference in the lives of dogs? Dogtopia of Honolulu is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Student Pet Care Specialists to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating a happy and safe environment for our furry guests, overseeing group play, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining a clean and stimulating space. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in animal care while contributing to a vibrant and supportive community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise dog playgroups of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
  • Engage with dogs through play, positive reinforcement, and attention.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in playrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
  • Feed and administer medication as directed by pet parents and management.
  • Monitor dog behavior for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report to senior staff.
  • Assist with dog drop-off and pick-up procedures, communicating effectively with pet parents.
  • Follow all Dogtopia protocols and procedures for dog health, safety, and facility maintenance.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love for dogs and understanding of their behavior.
  • Ability to manage multiple dogs in a group setting.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, standing for long periods).
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Currently enrolled as a student (high school or college).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with animals (volunteer or paid).
  • Knowledge of basic dog first aid and CPR.
  • Availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
