Job Description
Join BayCare Health System as a Rehabilitation Nurse with a specialized focus on orthopedic recovery. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in the rehabilitation journey of patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, or chronic conditions. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, ensuring patients regain their maximum level of independence and function. This position requires a deep understanding of orthopedic conditions, rehabilitation principles, and a compassionate approach to patient care. You will be responsible for patient education, pain management, wound care, and assisting with mobility and activities of daily living, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on patient safety and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic rehabilitation patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and orthopedic diagnoses.
- Monitor patient progress, document findings, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications, manage pain, and perform wound care as prescribed.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, rehabilitation exercises, and discharge planning.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living to promote independence.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care conferences.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting, preferably with an orthopedic focus.
- BLS certification.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, surgical procedures, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification.
- Experience with joint replacement, spinal surgery, and fracture recovery patients.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
