Job Description
Are you an experienced Class A CDL driver with a furry co-pilot yearning for adventure? Werner Enterprises is seeking dedicated and safe truck drivers who want to bring their beloved dogs on the road. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle over long distances, adhering to all federal and state regulations.
- Transport goods efficiently and on schedule, ensuring timely deliveries to various destinations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, documenting any issues.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) of driving hours, rest breaks, and vehicle maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of your canine companion while on the road, including regular stops for exercise and feeding.
- Adhere to company policies regarding pet conduct and cleanliness within the cab.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Complete necessary paperwork and utilize onboard technology for trip management.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable over-the-road (OTR) driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with all traffic laws
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other in-cab technology
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor roadside adjustments and inspections
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with refrigerated or specialized freight.
- Positive attitude and a passion for trucking.
