Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and hands-on Maintenance Porter with basic handyman skills to join our team in Plymouth. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our hotel premises. This involves a variety of tasks, from performing minor repairs and general maintenance to assisting with the movement of deliveries and luggage. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs across the hotel, including painting, minor plumbing, and basic electrical fixes (e.g., changing light bulbs).
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment to identify and report any issues or potential hazards.
- Assist with the movement and setup of furniture, equipment, and deliveries as needed.
- Ensure all public areas and back-of-house areas are clean, tidy, and well-maintained.
- Respond promptly and courteously to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
- Support the housekeeping and front desk teams with various tasks, including luggage assistance and general porter duties.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies, reporting any needs to management.
Required Skills
- Proven basic handyman skills and practical experience with minor repairs (e.g., painting, basic plumbing, simple carpentry).
- Ability to use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- A strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Good physical condition, capable of lifting and moving items as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a maintenance or porter role within a hospitality or similar environment.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures and regulations.
