Job Description

As an HSE Safety Officer at Turner Construction Company’s dynamic Houston site, you will be instrumental in upholding our unwavering commitment to safety. This pivotal role requires a proactive and vigilant professional dedicated to implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. You will work closely with project management, site supervisors, and the workforce to cultivate a strong safety culture, identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. Your expertise will directly contribute to minimizing incidents, protecting our employees, and maintaining our outstanding safety record on high-profile construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive HSE plans, policies, and procedures on the construction site.
  • Lead and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor contractor adherence to HSE requirements and project-specific safety plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HSE-related inquiries and regulatory inspections.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous communication and engagement with all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a safety role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of HSE management systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
