Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our inpatient pharmacy team for the night shift. As a CPhT Inpatient Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications, ensuring patient safety and adherence to all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory, perform stock rotations, and process incoming drug orders.
  • Operate and troubleshoot automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis) to ensure efficient medication access.
  • Assist with medication billing, record-keeping, and the documentation of pharmaceutical activities.
  • Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures regarding medication handling and patient safety.
  • Participate in quality control activities and ensure proper storage and handling of all pharmaceutical products.
  • Respond to medication-related inquiries from nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the pharmacy.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification from a recognized national board (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a pharmacy technician in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in pharmacy calculations and medication preparation techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, and effective teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts and rotating weekends/holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sterile compounding and aseptic technique.
  • Familiarity with hospital Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.
  • Associate's degree in a related scientific or healthcare field.
  • Advanced certification or specialized training in a pharmacy area (e.g., hazardous drugs).
