Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Analytical Laboratory Supervisor to lead our team in Wesley Chapel, FL. This critical role involves overseeing the daily operations of our analytical chemistry laboratory, ensuring the highest standards of data quality, regulatory compliance, and team performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of talented chemists and technicians, fostering a culture of scientific rigor, continuous improvement, and professional development. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of analytical chemists and technicians, including scheduling, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Oversee the daily execution of analytical testing, ensuring compliance with SOPs, GLP/GMP regulations, and client specifications.
  • Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR) and method-related issues, providing expert guidance and solutions.
  • Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods as required, maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Ensure the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, maintaining detailed records.
  • Review and approve analytical data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting.
  • Manage laboratory resources, including inventory control of reagents, consumables, and reference standards.
  • Lead investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the laboratory, adhering to all EHS policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and Project Management, to meet project deadlines and client expectations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, and FTIR.
  • Thorough understanding of GLP/GMP regulations and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of developing and motivating staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex analytical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with team members, management, and clients.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience in a contract research organization (CRO) or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with method validation and transfer procedures.
