Job Description

NextEra Energy Resources is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual interested in Solar and Wind Integration. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the technical, operational, and strategic aspects of integrating renewable energy sources into the grid. You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, contributing to real-world projects that are shaping the future of energy. This role is perfect for students looking to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, dynamic environment and develop a foundational understanding of renewable energy systems and their integration challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis and optimization of solar and wind energy generation data.
  • Support engineers in the design and modeling of renewable energy systems and grid integration solutions.
  • Conduct research on emerging renewable energy technologies, grid codes, and best practices for integration.
  • Contribute to the development of technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Participate in site visits (if applicable and safe) to observe solar and wind farm operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various renewable energy projects.
  • Utilize software tools for energy yield assessment, grid stability analysis, and project management.
  • Provide general support to the engineering and project development teams.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Basic understanding of solar PV and/or wind turbine technology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with energy modeling software (e.g., PVSyst, SAM, WASP) or CAD software.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R) or simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, EMTP).
  • Previous internship or project experience in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and regulations.
