Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated IV Certified Pharmacy Technician with specialized expertise in sterile compounding to join our dynamic pharmacy team in Boulder, CO. This crucial role involves preparing sterile intravenous (IV) admixtures and other compounded sterile products in accordance with USP and guidelines. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation of medications for our patients, adhering to the highest standards of quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile intravenous (IV) admixtures, chemotherapy, and other compounded sterile products accurately and efficiently under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Adhere strictly to all USP <797> and <800> guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local regulations and Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.
  • Perform aseptic technique procedures in a cleanroom environment, including proper garbing, hand hygiene, and surface disinfection.
  • Maintain inventory of medications and supplies for sterile compounding, including ordering, receiving, and stocking.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, including environmental monitoring and documentation, to ensure sterility and integrity of compounded products.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including laminar flow hoods and isolators, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
  • Accurately document all compounding activities, including ingredients, lot numbers, expiration dates, and preparation times.
  • Assist pharmacists with medication reconciliation, patient education, and drug information as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain IV certification and expand sterile compounding knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Required Skills

  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
  • Active state Pharmacy Technician license in Colorado.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an IV Certified Pharmacy Technician with demonstrable sterile compounding experience.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique and knowledge of USP <797> and <800> guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Pharmacy Technology or related field.
  • Experience with Epic or other major electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Previous experience in a large hospital or integrated healthcare system.
  • Certification in Hazardous Drug Compounding (e.g., CPhT-AD or equivalent).
