Job Description
Join Groundhog Landscaping as a Garden Play Equipment Assembler, working outdoors to construct and install various types of play structures for our clients across the Halifax Regional Municipality. This role requires a hands-on individual with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. You will be responsible for interpreting assembly instructions, preparing sites, and ensuring all play equipment is installed to manufacturer specifications and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy physical work in an outdoor setting and take pride in building structures that bring joy to children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret assembly instructions, blueprints, and diagrams for various garden play equipment (swings, slides, climbing frames, etc.).
- Prepare installation sites, including minor excavation, leveling, and foundation work as required.
- Assemble and install play equipment components accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and local building codes.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Perform quality checks on assembled structures to ensure stability, safety, and proper functionality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients regarding project progress.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or general assembly.
- Experience specifically with play equipment installation.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of playground safety standards (e.g., CSA Z614).
