Job Description

Are you a skilled automotive technician with a passion for perfection? ChipsAway is seeking a dedicated Mobile Rim Restoration Specialist to join our growing team in Reading. This is a full-time opportunity to deliver exceptional, on-location alloy wheel repairs, transforming damaged rims back to their original glory. You’ll be operating a fully-equipped mobile workshop, providing unparalleled convenience and quality service directly to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mobile alloy wheel restoration, including damage assessment, cleaning, preparation, filling, sanding, priming, painting, and lacquering.
  • Operate and maintain a fully-equipped mobile workshop, ensuring all tools and materials are readily available and in excellent working condition.
  • Adhere to ChipsAway's high standards of repair quality, ensuring a 'like new' finish on all completed jobs.
  • Manage customer interactions professionally, providing clear explanations of the repair process and managing expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and customer details.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage time efficiently to complete repairs within agreed timescales and schedule.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in alloy wheel repair or automotive paint spraying.
  • Strong understanding of automotive refinishing techniques and materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a mobile workshop effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Full UK driving license with a clean record.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Vehicle Body Repair or Paint Refinishing.
  • Experience with various types of alloy wheels and finishes (e.g., diamond cut, painted, polished).
  • Knowledge of smart repair techniques.
  • Previous experience in a mobile service role.
