Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse with a strong technical focus to join our dynamic team at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. This full-time position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses exceptional clinical and technical skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures, managing patient care pre, intra, and post-procedure, and operating specialized equipment. This role includes an on-call component to ensure comprehensive patient coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including PTCA, stenting, IABP, and other advanced techniques.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, EKG, and hemodynamic status throughout procedures.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields and ensure proper functioning of Cath Lab equipment.
- Provide pre-procedure education and post-procedure care, including sheath removal and patient recovery.
- Document all aspects of patient care, procedure details, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, responding to emergency cardiac cases outside of regular hours.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Active RN license in Georgia
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Critical Care setting (ICU/ER with cardiac focus)
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to operate complex medical equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to be on-call and respond within required timeframes
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Experience with advanced interventional procedures (e.g., TAVR, Mitraclip)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification
- PCCN or CCRN certification
