Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hotel Porter to join our exceptional team at Malmaison Newcastle. This full-time position is ideal for individuals who are physically fit, possess excellent customer service skills, and are eager to contribute to a high-quality guest experience. As a Hotel Porter, you will be the welcoming face of our establishment, assisting guests with luggage, parking, and general inquiries, ensuring their stay is comfortable and seamless from arrival to departure. An immediate start is available for the successful candidate, pending a satisfactory DBS check. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests upon arrival and assist with luggage handling, ensuring safe and efficient transport to and from rooms.
- Provide valet parking services, including parking and retrieving guest vehicles in a secure manner.
- Assist guests with directions, local information, and general inquiries, offering proactive and friendly service.
- Deliver newspapers, parcels, and other items to guest rooms promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel lobby, entrance, and public areas.
- Support other hotel departments, such as reception and housekeeping, as needed.
- Ensure security protocols are followed, reporting any suspicious activity.
- Operate and maintain hotel equipment safely, including trolleys and luggage carts.
- Respond to guest requests and complaints efficiently and courteously.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Ability to lift and carry luggage comfortably.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform duties that involve standing, walking, and lifting.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A satisfactory Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is mandatory for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is an advantage, but not essential.
- A valid UK driving license is preferred for valet parking duties.
- Knowledge of Newcastle upon Tyne and local attractions.
