Job Description
Are you passionate about games and possess an eagle eye for detail? Harmonix is looking for a dedicated Game Tester to join our fast-paced development team. In this ‘high-speed environment,’ you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the quality and playability of our next generation of games, specifically focusing on critical, time-sensitive testing cycles. This role demands quick thinking, meticulous bug reproduction, and effective communication to identify and resolve issues under tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive test plans and procedures for pre-release game builds across various platforms.
- Identify, document, and track software defects and bugs using our internal bug tracking system, providing clear and concise reproduction steps.
- Perform regression testing to verify bug fixes and ensure the stability of the game.
- Provide objective feedback on gameplay, user experience, and overall game quality.
- Collaborate closely with development teams (designers, programmers, artists) to communicate issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings to discuss progress and prioritize tasks.
- Contribute to the improvement of testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency.
- Perform ad-hoc testing and stress testing in a high-pressure, rapid development environment.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated passion for video games and a strong understanding of various genres.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to identifying issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Quality Assurance (QA) or game testing roles.
- Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Experience with various gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Understanding of game development pipelines and methodologies.
- Ability to provide constructive and actionable feedback on gameplay elements.
