Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and passionate Sound Quality Tester to join our remote team, focusing on our innovative consumer electronics products. As a Sound Quality Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest audio fidelity and user experience for our devices before they reach our global customers. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute from anywhere in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigorous manual and automated sound quality testing on pre-release consumer electronic devices, including smartphones, smart speakers, and wearables.
- Identify, document, and track audio-related bugs, glitches, and performance issues using established bug tracking systems.
- Provide detailed and actionable feedback on audio performance, clarity, volume, and overall user experience.
- Collaborate closely with audio engineers, product managers, and development teams to understand product specifications and testing requirements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for various audio features and scenarios (e.g., call quality, music playback, voice assistant interaction).
- Set up and maintain test environments and equipment for accurate sound analysis.
- Stay informed about the latest audio technologies, industry standards, and competitor products.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing improvements in testing methodologies and processes.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance or testing, with a focus on audio or consumer electronics.
- Strong understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and sound reproduction.
- Proficiency in identifying subtle audio imperfections suchple as distortion, noise, and frequency response issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with various audio codecs and formats.
- Ability to clearly and concisely document bugs and test results.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.
- Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with audio analysis software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of common audio testing equipment and methodologies (e.g., anechoic chambers, sound level meters, spectrum analyzers).
- Previous experience working on consumer electronics products (e.g., smartphones, headphones, smart home devices).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with bug tracking tools like Jira or similar.
