Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Specialized Glass Hauler to join our dedicated transportation team in New Port Richey, FL. This role is critical to our operations, involving the precise and secure transport of large, fragile glass products to various commercial and industrial sites. The ideal candidate will possess an unwavering commitment to safety, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven track record in handling specialized cargo. You will be responsible for operating state-of-the-art equipment and ensuring the integrity of our valuable shipments from loading to delivery. This is an on-site position that requires physical presence and active participation in the precise handling and transportation of specialized materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate specialized glass hauling equipment, including flatbeds with A-frames or similar custom trailers.
  • Accurately load, secure, and unload large and fragile glass panels and units, ensuring proper weight distribution and protection against damage.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
  • Ensure timely delivery of shipments while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Assist with minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment as needed.
  • Attend all mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
  • Proven experience with flatbed hauling, preferably specialized in oversized or fragile cargo.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and DOT physical.
  • Strong understanding of load securement techniques for fragile materials.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically with glass or architectural product transportation.
  • Forklift certification and experience.
  • Familiarity with local and regional routes in Florida.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
