Job Description

Are you a skilled Live Sound Technician with a passion for touring and delivering exceptional audio experiences? PRG is seeking a dedicated and experienced Live Sound Technician to join our concert and tour production teams. This role involves extensive travel, working on diverse projects from major concert tours to special events, ensuring pristine audio quality from setup to breakdown. If you thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and possess a keen ear for detail, we want you on our crew. Key Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively with concert tours and special events, both domestically and internationally.
  • Setup, operate, and tear down complex live sound systems, including FOH and monitor consoles, PA systems, microphones, and processing gear.
  • Conduct sound checks, troubleshoot technical issues efficiently, and maintain equipment integrity during productions.
  • Mix live audio for various artists and genres, ensuring optimal sound quality for both audience and performers.
  • Collaborate closely with tour managers, production managers, artists, and other technical departments.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on audio equipment.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and industry best practices.
  • Document system configurations and changes for consistency across tour stops.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Live Sound Technician, with a focus on concert and touring productions.
  • Expert proficiency with modern digital audio consoles (e.g., DiGiCo, Avid, Yamaha, Midas).
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, acoustic principles, and PA system optimization (e.g., system tuning, alignment).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex audio issues under pressure.
  • Proficiency with various wireless microphone systems and in-ear monitor systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and artists.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering or a related field.
  • Certifications in specific audio consoles or system optimization software (e.g., Smaart, Lake Controller).
  • Previous experience as a crew chief or lead audio technician on a major tour.
  • Familiarity with network audio protocols (e.g., Dante, AVB, Optocore).
  • Experience with video and lighting systems integration.
