Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented AV (Audio Visual) Integration Intern to join our Corporate IT team in Calgary. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of cutting-edge audio-visual systems within a corporate environment. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced AV engineers and IT professionals, contributing to projects that enhance our meeting spaces, conference rooms, and collaboration environments. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about technology, eager to learn, and looking to kickstart a career in AV or corporate IT.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist AV engineers with the installation, configuration, and testing of AV equipment (e.g., projectors, displays, cameras, microphones, control systems).
- Provide technical support for existing AV systems, troubleshooting issues and performing routine maintenance.
- Help prepare documentation for AV system designs, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless integration of AV systems with network infrastructure.
- Conduct research on new AV technologies and solutions to identify potential improvements.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to the planning and execution of AV integration projects.
- Maintain inventory of AV equipment and manage asset tracking.
- Learn and apply best practices for AV cabling, termination, and system commissioning.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of audio-visual concepts and equipment.
- Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with AV equipment (e.g., setting up sound systems, projectors for events, personal use).
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, Ethernet).
- Familiarity with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS) or video conferencing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CTS, CompTIA A+).
- Experience with CAD software for drafting AV system layouts.
