Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately document patient medical history, physical exams, physician assessments, and treatment plans during virtual patient encounters.
  • Transcribe physician orders, prescriptions, referrals, and lab/imaging requests into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist physicians in navigating the EHR system and retrieving relevant patient information.
  • Prepare charts for upcoming appointments and ensure all necessary documentation is available.
  • Learn and adapt to various medical specialties and physician documentation styles.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Exceptional listening skills and ability to process information quickly.
  • Proficiency in typing (minimum 60 WPM with high accuracy).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with learning new software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain focus in a remote environment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a private, quiet workspace.
  • Willingness to learn medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college coursework completed, particularly in pre-med, biology, or other health sciences.
  • Previous exposure to a healthcare setting (e.g., volunteer work, shadowing, administrative assistant).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology or medical coding.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
