Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sound Designer with a focus on video games and broader media projects to join our dynamic audio team. This role demands a creative individual with a keen ear for detail and a strong understanding of interactive audio principles. You will be responsible for creating, editing, and implementing high-quality audio assets that enhance the player experience and contribute to the overall immersion of our titles. Key Responsibilities
- Design, create, and implement original sound effects, ambient audio, and foley for video games and other media projects.
- Collaborate closely with game designers, programmers, and other artists to integrate audio seamlessly into interactive experiences.
- Edit, mix, and master audio assets to ensure consistency and quality across all platforms.
- Manage and maintain sound effect libraries, ensuring proper organization and tagging.
- Participate in creative reviews and provide constructive feedback on audio implementation.
- Troubleshoot audio-related issues and optimize assets for performance.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and techniques in sound design and interactive audio.
- Work within technical constraints while striving for the highest possible audio quality.
- Contribute to the overall creative vision and audio direction of projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with industry-standard audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Nuendo, or Reaper.
- Experience with game audio middleware like Wwise or FMOD.
- Demonstrable portfolio showcasing strong sound design skills for video games or interactive media.
- Excellent understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and sound design principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of various audio formats and their applications in game development.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot audio-related issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Lua, C#) for audio implementation.
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Experience recording foley and field effects.
- Passion for video games and an understanding of interactive storytelling.
