Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Compliance Officer with a strong focus on regulatory compliance to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial in ensuring Microsoft adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, particularly concerning our diverse product offerings and global operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in regulatory frameworks, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs to mitigate risks and uphold Microsoft’s commitment to ethical conduct and corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs and policies in line with global and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and internal audits to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
- Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes and ensure that Microsoft's operations remain compliant with new and evolving laws and regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to various business units on compliance matters, risk management, and best practices.
- Lead and participate in internal investigations related to compliance issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees to foster a culture of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors during examinations and inquiries.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance status, risk mitigation efforts, and program effectiveness for senior management.
- Collaborate with legal, security, and privacy teams to ensure integrated compliance strategies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory role, preferably within a large multinational corporation or the technology sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., data privacy, antitrust, financial regulations, industry-specific compliance).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or advanced degree in a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)).
- Experience with compliance management software and tools.
- Previous experience working with or for regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft products, services, and cloud computing regulations.
