Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Hardware Store Field Auditor with a strong focus on DIY knowledge to join our team. In this critical role, you will travel to various Home Depot store locations within your assigned region to conduct comprehensive audits. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with company policies, merchandising standards, inventory accuracy, and customer service protocols, all through the lens of a DIY enthusiast. This role requires an individual who not only understands operational procedures but also possesses practical, hands-on knowledge of home improvement products and projects to effectively assess store conditions from a customer’s perspective. You will be instrumental in identifying areas for improvement, providing actionable feedback to store management, and contributing to an enhanced shopping experience for our DIY customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough audits of Home Depot retail stores, evaluating operational efficiency, merchandising standards, and product presentation.
- Assess inventory accuracy, placement, and labeling, with a keen eye for common DIY project components and related items.
- Evaluate the quality of customer interactions and service, particularly regarding DIY project assistance and product recommendations.
- Identify and report discrepancies, non-compliance issues, and potential areas for improvement to store management and regional leadership.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommend solutions to store teams to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
- Verify adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards within the store environment.
- Document audit findings accurately and comprehensively using company-provided tools and systems.
- Collaborate with store management to develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Stay updated on new products, DIY trends, and company initiatives to ensure relevant and effective audits.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail operations, merchandising, or auditing, preferably within the hardware or home improvement sector.
- Demonstrated strong practical knowledge and experience in DIY home improvement projects and products.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
- Proficiency in using audit software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple store locations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent travel within the assigned region.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly during store visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a field auditor or quality assurance specialist.
- Certification or extensive practical experience in a specific trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
- Familiarity with Home Depot's operational procedures and systems.
