Job Description
As an LTC Pharmacy Technician at our Rockville facility, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and accurate dispensing of medications for residents in long-term care facilities. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a structured, production-focused environment with a strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork. You will primarily work behind the scenes, preparing prescriptions, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance, without direct customer interaction. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately fill and package prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Perform inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and rotating medications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all sanitation standards.
- Process medication returns and manage expired medications according to established protocols.
- Assist pharmacists with various tasks to ensure timely and accurate medication delivery.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and company policies.
- Utilize pharmacy software systems to accurately input and track prescription information.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
- Ensure all work is completed with a strong focus on patient safety and medication integrity.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- State of Maryland Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
- Minimum 6 months of pharmacy technician experience (retail or institutional preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with pharmacy software systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a long-term care or institutional pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge of pharmacy inventory management systems.
- Familiarity with common pharmacy abbreviations and drug names.
- Experience with sterile compounding techniques (a plus, but not required).
