Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Motorsport Engineering Intern to join our racing team based in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring engineers to gain hands-on experience in the demanding world of professional motorsport. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to vehicle performance optimization, data analysis, and the preparation of racing vehicles for competition. This internship offers exposure to various aspects of motorsport engineering, from aerodynamics and chassis dynamics to powertrain integration and race strategy support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational knowledge of mechanical or automotive engineering principles and a keen interest in motorsport.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the design, analysis, and testing of racing components and systems.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of racing vehicles, including setup adjustments and component changes.
- Contribute to data acquisition and analysis, interpreting telemetry and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in trackside operations, providing technical support during testing and race events.
- Document engineering processes, test results, and vehicle specifications accurately.
- Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to ensure vehicle reliability and optimal performance.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance vehicle performance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering program.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles (mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
- Basic knowledge of data acquisition systems and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for trackside support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with motorsport, automotive, or robotics projects (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE).
- Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and suspension design.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
- Basic workshop skills and familiarity with hand tools.
- A demonstrated passion for motorsport and high-performance vehicles.
