Job Description
Join Netflix as a Network Monitor, specializing in night shifts from the comfort of your home. This critical role ensures the continuous, seamless operation of our global network infrastructure, directly impacting the quality of service for millions of Netflix users worldwide. You will be responsible for real-time monitoring, incident detection, initial troubleshooting, and escalation of network-related issues. We are looking for sharp, detail-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about maintaining the highest standards of network reliability. This is a 100% remote position, offering top pay for dedicated night shift professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 24/7 real-time monitoring of Netflix's global network infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, CDN, and cloud environments, specifically during designated night shifts.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and diagnose network incidents and performance anomalies using various monitoring tools and dashboards.
- Execute initial troubleshooting steps, gather relevant diagnostic data, and document findings accurately.
- Escalate critical incidents to specialized network engineering teams following established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding incident status, resolution efforts, and potential impact.
- Contribute to the improvement of monitoring tools, alerts, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a strong understanding of network topologies, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), and common network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
Required Skills
- Proven experience in network operations or a similar monitoring role.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, custom dashboards).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure during night shifts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote, distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation or data analysis.
- Prior experience in a NOC (Network Operations Center) or SOC (Security Operations Center) environment.
