Job Description
Join FedEx Freight as a Class A Day Cab Driver, operating local routes out of our Kansas City, MO facility. This position offers the security of consistent work with the benefit of being home daily, as there are no overnight stays required. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of LTL freight, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, adhering to all DOT regulations, and maintaining a professional demeanor. We are looking for experienced drivers committed to safety and excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer) on local routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Transport LTL freight to various destinations within the designated service area.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Properly secure freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate driving logs and complete necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Represent FedEx Freight professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull freight as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LTL freight operations.
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven track record of safe driving and on-time delivery.
