Job Description

This is a fast-paced and critical role that requires quick thinking, empathy, and the ability to operate under pressure. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, accurately assessing the nature and urgency of each situation.
  • Prioritize incoming calls and dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical units swiftly and efficiently.
  • Provide clear, concise, and calm pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies, fires, or other critical incidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches, and other essential information using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Monitor multiple radio frequencies simultaneously, communicating effectively with field units.
  • Relay critical information to emergency personnel and other agencies as needed.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism in highly stressful and emotional situations.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines of the agency.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure.
  • Strong active listening skills and empathy.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking capabilities, including typing while listening and speaking.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or call center environment.
  • Familiarity with the geography and landmarks of the Federal Capital Territory.
  • Bilingual proficiency in local Nigerian languages (e.g., Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba).
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
