Job Description

As a Pinterest Community Safety Officer focusing on Corporate Governance, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our platform and community by ensuring our safety policies align with best-in-class corporate governance standards and regulatory requirements. This position involves collaborating closely with legal, policy, product, and trust & safety teams to develop, implement, and enforce policies that protect our users while upholding our corporate values. You will be instrumental in identifying and mitigating risks related to content, user behavior, and platform integrity, contributing directly to a positive and trustworthy experience on Pinterest. This is an on-site role based in Des Moines, Iowa, requiring a presence at our local office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex safety policies and regulatory guidelines to ensure corporate governance compliance.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Public Policy, Product, and Trust & Safety teams to develop and refine community guidelines and enforcement protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential vulnerabilities in current safety mechanisms and governance structures.
  • Support incident response efforts related to critical safety issues, providing analysis and recommendations from a governance perspective.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on community safety performance, policy effectiveness, and compliance status for internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in internal and external audits related to content moderation, data privacy, and ethical AI use.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, emerging threats, and regulatory changes in online safety and corporate responsibility.
  • Document processes, decisions, and policy rationales meticulously.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply complex policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated understanding of online safety issues, content moderation, and platform integrity challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a corporate governance, compliance, legal, or trust & safety role within a technology company.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks pertaining to online content and data.
  • Project management experience.
  • Certification in compliance or governance (e.g., CCEP, GRCA).
