Job Description

We are seeking a highly professional and welcoming Host / Hostess to join our esteemed team at The Exchange Hotel Cardiff. This part-time role is crucial for creating an exceptional first impression for our guests, ensuring a seamless and elegant dining experience from arrival to departure. You will be the face of our venue, managing reservations, greeting guests, and coordinating with the service staff to maintain our high standards of hospitality. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet all guests upon their arrival, manage seating arrangements, and escort them to their tables.
  • Efficiently handle all incoming reservations via phone and our booking system, ensuring accurate scheduling and guest details.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organized appearance of the host stand and entrance area.
  • Answer guest inquiries professionally, providing information about the menu, venue, and hotel services.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide proactive assistance to enhance their overall experience.
  • Coordinate closely with the serving and kitchen staff to ensure smooth table turnover and service flow.
  • Assist with coat check services and special requests when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer service role, preferably within hospitality.
  • A professional and polished appearance with a welcoming and friendly demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Host/Hostess in a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or upscale venue.
