Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Songwriting Coach to join our team at Harmony House Creative Studio. This flexible, part-time position involves guiding aspiring songwriters through the creative process, helping them develop their unique voice, craft compelling lyrics, and structure engaging musical compositions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of music theory, lyrical techniques, and song structure across various genres, coupled with excellent communication and mentorship skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group coaching sessions on songwriting techniques, theory, and artistic development.
  • Guide students through the entire songwriting process, from initial concept to final arrangement.
  • Offer constructive feedback on lyrics, melody, harmony, and overall song structure.
  • Help students overcome creative blocks and develop personalized strategies for consistent songwriting.
  • Teach various lyrical devices, rhyme schemes, and storytelling techniques.
  • Educate students on different song forms and genre conventions.
  • Inspire and motivate students to explore their creative potential and develop their unique artistic voice.
  • Potentially assist with organizing and facilitating songwriting workshops and performance opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in music theory, harmony, and melodic composition.
  • Extensive experience in songwriting across multiple genres (e.g., pop, rock, folk, R&B).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire students of varying skill levels.
  • Strong understanding of lyrical techniques, storytelling, and poetic devices.
  • Ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Composition, Creative Writing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional songwriting or coaching experience.
  • Experience with music production software (DAWs) is a plus.
  • A portfolio of original musical works or published songs.
  • Experience teaching in an academic or private studio setting.
