Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Wildlife Biologist / Ecologist to join our dedicated conservation team. This pivotal role involves conducting ecological surveys, managing conservation projects, and contributing to our mission of protecting Nottinghamshire’s biodiversity. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ecological surveys (e.g., botanical, ornithological, mammal, invertebrate) in various habitats.
- Analyze and interpret ecological data, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Develop and implement conservation management plans for nature reserves and project sites.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation interventions.
- Provide ecological advice and support to internal teams and external partners.
- Contribute to grant applications and funding proposals for new projects.
- Engage with local communities, volunteers, and stakeholders on conservation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant wildlife legislation and best practice guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in ecological survey techniques and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of UK flora and fauna, particularly those found in woodland, wetland, and grassland habitats.
- Proficiency in ecological report writing and data management software (e.g., GIS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team and with external partners.
- Full UK driving license and ability to travel to various field sites.
- Demonstrable commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree or higher in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Membership in a professional ecological body (e.g., CIEEM).
- Experience with habitat restoration projects and invasive species management.
- Valid protected species licenses (e.g., bat, great crested newt).
- Experience working with volunteers and community groups.
- Familiarity with UK planning policy and environmental legislation.
