Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Hospital Pharmacy Technician to join our team for a clinical role, specifically for the night shift. This position is crucial in supporting our pharmacists and nurses in delivering exceptional patient care through accurate medication preparation and distribution. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical practice in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role includes a night shift differential to compensate for overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Compound sterile and non-sterile preparations according to established procedures.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking, ensuring proper storage conditions.
- Assist in the preparation of patient-specific doses and unit-dose packaging.
- Perform medication reconciliations and assist pharmacists with clinical tasks.
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles.
- Respond to and resolve medication-related inquiries from healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Provide support during emergency situations and code responses.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems.
Required Skills
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Active Georgia Board of Pharmacy Technician registration.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and aseptic technique.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and basic office software.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- Experience with hospital formulary management and inventory systems.
- Previous experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
- Experience in a clinical pharmacy technician role.
- Knowledge of USP 797 and 800 guidelines.
